Rhythm and Beats SA was created because of two reasons: A Facebook post that stated San Antonio DJs didn’t know how to play R & B music, and an IG post that was having a day party called ‘R&B and Ribs’ held in San Francisco, CA. Jamal quickly asked himself if he could do something like that here in San Antonio, TX. After thinking about if for a while and thinking about how the concept would work, he started to search for venues that didn’t have an event or DJ scheduled for Sundays. The original concept was a DJ battle amongst friends to see who could rock the crowd the best using only R&B music. The initial DJs he chose were DJ Magic, DJ Tee Reckz, and Tha Dark Knight. However, the battle part was scratched, and Jamal decided to make it a day party instead.

 

Porta Rossa Bar SA was the only venue that would give Rhythm and Beats a chance at the time.  The concept was set for a once a month recurring event, with the first event occurring on April 23rd, 2023. A few months passed and DJ Magic was moved to being the host of the show and DJ Hollywood Hot Rod was brought on. With this dynamic crew Rhythm and Beats SA is now one of the premiere day parties/shows in the San Antonio area.

 

The show continued to grow to the point where Jamal was tasked with looking for a larger venue and Smoke Skybar is now the new location. The Rhythm and Beats SA event averages between 400-500 patrons a show and the concept has garnered interest from venues in Austin, Houston, and Dallas, TX. Jamal has set his sights on taking this not only nationwide but worldwide!!! He is already in talks with various venues in the US and other countries around the globe.
